Tucson Training Camp - Week 1

Location:

We have picked Tucson, Arizona to be the base for our Feb/March cycling camps this winter. Location is key when planning a successful training camp, and we believe we have picked the best! Tucson has been ranked by Bicycling Magazine as one of the top cycling cities in the U.S. What better place to go train in February and March? With under an inch of precipitation on average and an estimated high of 70-75ยบ, Tucson weather is perfect for logging countless miles.

Staff:

Training camp will be staffed by qualified and knowledgeable USA Cycling Certified Coaches, officials, and professional cyclists. Staff are familiar with the Tucson area and will provide you with a worry free camp experience. Learn more about our staff.

Housing:

Housing was an important consideration for us. We wanted an ideal spot and nice amenities and we have found both! Camp will be based in the North East quadrant of Tucson and its location will be a perfect starting point for many of the week’s rides. House is 6 bedroom and 3 bath with approx 4000 sq ft of space.

Amenities include a pool, cable, internet, and washer/dryer. Camp rates are based on double occupancy.

Riding:

Rides will be planned each day and transport will be provided for those rides that do not start from the house. Ride times will range from 2-7 hours with mileage up to 100 miles. Rides will suit the people in the group. Different options will be available depending upon needs of riders present. A well working road bike is a MUST.

Rides will include Mount Lemmon, Kitt Peak, Tombstone, Saguaro National Park and an option to ride the infamous Shoot Out.

We take food very seriously at Pedal Power, and understand first hand the importance of nutritious meals and proper ride/recovery food and beverage to keep those pedals turning. All meals and riding food/beverage are included and provided at training camp. Meals will be made in house and will be wholesome and balanced to provide the necessary energy for riding and recovery.

Foot Fitness/Dynamic Foot Systems:

Bill Peterson, founder of Foot Fitness/Dynamic Foot Systems, has opened his cycle fit studio and orthotic lab to Pedal Power Campers. All campers will have the opportunity to have a Professional Biomechanical Bicycle fitting done. Custom cycling footbeds will be fabricated for campers as well.
